Despite its lack of promise for civilian use, the Energy Department and the White House have used the Livermore controlled fusion experiment results to boost the effort to harness fusion power for civilian purposes. In December 2022, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm announced with great fanfare that a laser pulse ignited a fusion reaction that produced more energy…

Despite fusion power being a big-bet technology, there is no US government agency in charge of assessing its risks and benefits.

How does nuclear fission make room for the immense power of an atom to meet our growing energy needs? What are some of the most innovative developments in nuclear fission? The answer may surprise you, as we explore the innovative breakthroughs that are shaping our future energy landscape. This energy source has evolved into a safer,

Thermodynamic Geoengineering is effectively too cheap to meter and a recipe for true long lasting peace.

Lise Meitner developed the theory of nuclear fission, the process that enabled the atomic bomb. But her identity — Jewish and a woman — barred her from sharing credit for the discovery, newly translated letters show.

Physicist Lise Meitner played a crucial role in the development of the theory of nuclear fission but has been largely overlooked in history due to her gender and Jewish heritage. Despite facing barriers, Meitner made significant discoveries and collaborated with Otto Hahn, but was denied recognition for her work. Meitners story highlights the historical injustices faced by women in science and the need for greater representation and equality. Although she never received a Nobel Prize, there is n...

Lise Meitner, an Austrian-born Jewish physicist, never received the Nobel Prize she deserved for her pioneering work on nuclear fission

The movie ‘Oppenheimer’ makes no mention of Lise Meitner, the co-discoverer of nuclear fission. But she would have wanted it that way.
