Equinor has made a minor oil and gas discovery in the Barents Sea and will consider a tie-back to its operated Johan Castberg field.

Vår Energi, operator of PL 901, has concluded the drilling of wildcat well 7122/6-3 S. The well was drilled about 10 kms south of the 7122/6-1 (Tornerose) discovery in the Barents Sea. Hydrocarbons were encountered and the licensees will assess the discovery together with other nearby prospects with a view toward a potential development tied into existing infrastructure on the Goliat field.
