The iconic comic book is on loan from the Library of Congress to newly-elected out politician Robert Garcia.

Tuesday's scheduled swearing in of House members for the 118th Congress, including two first-term members from Los Angeles County, was delayed because of the inability to elect a new speaker.

Former Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia will be sworn into the House of Representatives Tuesday, the first openly LGBTQ immigrant to serve in Congress.

“I have light symptoms and otherwise feel fine,” Garcia said in his tweet. “I plan to rest and work from home this week.”

The Long Beach mayor has earned himself many allies by letting others claim a share in his vision, often working behind the scenes to arrive at consensus, or, in critics' eyes, the safest political result.
