Dragons 3rd At Own Invitational

By Editor | April 21, 2021 By ERIC X. VICCARO EVICCARO@STEGENHERALD.COM ZELL The Ste. Genevieve High School boys’ golf team had a simple goal at its own tournament last Wednesday. That goal? Beat DeSoto in the team standings. Mission accomplished. In this battle of Dragon golfers, Ste. Genevieve put together a team score of 375 while DeSoto carded a 377 at the 10th Annual Dragon Invitational. Landon Rose turned in varsity’s low round with an 88, one day after winning medalist honors at a triangular in Farmington with Park Hills Central and Potosi. “Landon turned it around on Hole No. 9,” Ste. Genevieve head coach Ryan Mueller said. “He managed to bogey the hole, and then go to the back nine where he shined. He’s definitely figured out his game.”

Dragon JV Boys Show Mettle

Protecting your own basketball court can become a cherished entity. That’s what recently happened on a recent Saturday afternoon at Peggy J. Johnson Gymnasium and Peggy would have been proud of the Ste. Genevieve junior varsity boys’ basketball team. The Dragons won their own “Old Settlement Tournament” on Jan. 23 under 10th-year coach Jonathan Robinson. “When you have a week where you play six games in seven days, you find out the character of your team,” Robinson said. “I thought we played good team basketball, guys accepted their roles and did the little things it takes to win,” the coach added.
