The Iowa Broadcast News Association honored KMCH with several news awards at its annual convention on Saturday night in Johnston. KMCH and News Direct

The Winona Post won eight awards in the Minnesota Newspaper Association Better Newspaper Contest last month.

The awards were announced during the association's annual convention.

The Dispatch received a total of 44 awards, including 21 first-place finishes to become the smallest newspaper to claim the Vance in the almost 40-year history of the trophy.

The West Central Tribune earned seven first-place awards, including a full category sweep in the Hard News — Coverage of Court/Crime category; plus second place overall in its division for General Excellence and numerous individual awards in the MNA Better Newspaper Contest for 2022-23.

For the second year, KCCI received first-place awards for Overall Excellence, Best Newscast, Spot News Coverage, Political Coverage and News Photography. “These awards demonstrate our commitment to Central Iowans in every story we tell,” says Allison Smith, KCCI’s news director.

KCCI was honored with seven first-place awards and received 16 awards in total from the Iowa Broadcast News Association at the organization's annual convention on Saturday, April 29, in Altoona, IA. The awards were in the TV-Large Market category.
