BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Southern womenâs basketball team picked up its second SWAC win behind a strong third quarter against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the F.G. Clark Activity Center on Saturday, Jan. 16.
Southern women beat UAPB
The Lady Jaguars (2-8, 2-2 SWAC) went on to a 67-57 win over the Lady Lions (2-8, 1-3 SWAC).
Sophomore forward Genovea Johnson led Southern with 13 points. Senior guard Nakia Kincey added 11 points and four rebounds. Sophomore forward Raven White chipped in 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WAFB) - The Southern womenâs basketball team at Mississippi State was an evenly matched contest the first 15 minutes of the first half until the Lady Bulldogs turned up the intensity to win big over the Lady Jaguars Friday night at Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Mississippi. The final score was 79-55.
After sitting out of the Baylor game, Genovea Johnson picked right up where she left off making her presence known by disrupting the opposing team defense driving to the lane and creating shots for her teammates.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) Jessika Carter had her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds to help No. 13 Mississippi State beat Southern 79-55 on Friday night.
Rickea Jackson added 15 points for the Bulldogs (4-1). Aliyah Matharu had 11 points and Myah Taylor scored 10.
Mississippi State’s JaMya Mingo-Young scored five seconds after the opening tipoff, and then the Bulldogs missed their next seven shots and finished the first quarter with 37% shooting and a 16-13 lead. For the remaining three quarters of the game, Mississippi State shot 28 of 47 (60%) and pulled away during a stretch when it made 12 of 15 shots.
