There is a glorious moment when winter finally yields to spring. The birds are singing and snapping twigs from the branches above, and the grass is shooting up. It’s a glorious time for the gardener, and some willing varieties of deciduous clematis take part in this spring bonanza. They unfurl their flowers just as the new, soft-green foliage breaks into growth.

One Dam at a Time, a 22-minute documentary by National Geographic “Ocean Hero” Jon Bowermaster, will showcase the dam removal efforts of Riverkeeper, a nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to the protection of the Hudson and its tributaries. Two upcoming screenings of the film, one virtual and one in person, will take place next week.

Her luminous vitality, the joyful power and grace with which she pursued her many enthusiasms, her warmth and humor, and the depth of her caring about the welfare of others, are legendary among all who knew and loved her.
