Walter has developed wargames for a variety of audiences including the U.S. Naval Academy and climate change consultancy Ecospherics. He recently debuted his latest game: Afgantsy: The Soviet-Afghan War at the International Wargaming Symposium in Peru. He holds a dual bachelor's degree in history and Russian language studies from the University of South Carolina.
