Disaster management teams are on high alert as parts of the Western Cape have been warned to brace for more inclement weather.

The town is one of the worst affected areas by recent floods in the province.

Citrusdal was the worst affected area. Floods washed away part of the N7 road, cutting off entry into the town.

The Brakfontein Bridge, on the Mouton Citrus farm, being used to transport goods to and from Citrusdal is also in use again.

More than 20 communities remain cut off from the rest of the Western Cape following the heavy rains, while a helicopter had to be used to deliver food.

After almost a week without power, the lights are finally back on in Citrusdal - and, according to Western Cape Local Government MEC Anton Bredell, work is under way to repair the main thoroughfare into the town.

Efforts are under way to restore the electricity supply to Citrusdal, after the West Coast town was cut off from the rest of the province for almost a week due to severe flooding.



Western Cape communities are still reeling after heavy rains unleashed floods that damaged roads and infrastructure.

The Cederberg Municipality wants the flood-hit West Coast area to be declared a local disaster after flooding this week cut it off from the rest of the province.

Heavy rain caused a section of the main roadway into the town to collapse, cutting it off from the outside world.
