Theater critic Barry Willis made the trek through Mount Tamalpais State Park and Cushing Memorial Amphitheatre to experience the Marin tradition for another year.

At a time when many theater companies are struggling or even shutting down, it’s always heartening to see an occasional new troupe being born as well. The latest is Three Gents Theatre Co., a brand-new group that plans to stage a classic public-domain play every summer for free in the North Bay.

Sylvia Joyce Lucken Sorgaard was born on August 28, 1936, in Fosston, Minnesota, to parents Ole and Lois Lucken. She grew up in Fosston and attended Fosston High School and graduated in 1954. In her senior English class she sat in front of a Lengby farm boy, Clemence Sorgaard, who spent too much time teasing her.
