Fort Worth will spend $500,000 to assess environmental contamination at sites across the city, including the former Butler Place public housing complex and the historic R. Vickery Elementary School.

Organization leaders met again with Fort Worth officials to discuss purchasing the old Vickery Elementary school property from the city.

The nonprofit division of a local fraternity is working to acquire the abandoned school from the city of Fort Worth. The goal is for a major revitalization and hub of resources for the surrounding southside communities.
