The attorney for a self-proclaimed psychic who is on trial for fraud offered a rather unorthodox argument in her defense by positing that she cannot be found guilty because she actually lived up to her promise to thwart the evil spirits that plagued her client.

Another twist came in the psychic fraud trial of Jaycee Wasso when the state’s star witness, Lin Halfon, admitted under cross-examination Thursday that she, not Wasso, is the one who stole $1 million from her wealthy older husband in 2019.

A Tampa jury heard about dark spells, fraud, and a fortune-teller named Jaycee Wasso on Tuesday. 

The winding tale of a young wife, her rich husband, and a psychic who allegedly conned them into giving her loads of cash has taken several turns, but now the psychic's lawyer says the rich man's son was an acquaintance of one of the psychic's family members.

A psychic accused of scamming her client and the client's rich husband out of more than $1 million is set to head to trial. 

Attorneys for a Tampa psychic accused of tricking a woman into stealing $1 million from her husband claim prosecutors are withholding evidence. 

Lin Halfon spent 13 months in jail for stealing a million dollars from her husband, Tampa businessman Richard Rappaport. Last January she took a plea deal and was deported back to Israel. Now, prosecutors say she was under the spell of a self-proclaimed psychic who now faces a long list of charges.
