Việt Nam News votes the following events as the most important in the field this year.

At the SGIFF, Lê Hương chatted with Jeremy Chua about the film Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell and his plans to cooperate with more Vietnamese directors.

The film was honoured at the closing ceremony held on Saturday night in Đà Lạt for winning this year’s Golden Lotus Awards in the categories of Feature Film, Music, Cinematography and Director.

The movies are made by both State-owned and private studios, and include international-award winners and the current highest-grossing movies. 

Vietnamese film “Tro tan ruc ro”, known as “Glorious Ashes” in English, will represent the country at the upcoming 2024 Oscars, competing in the preliminary round of the Best International Feature Film award category, said the Vietnam News Agency.

Vietnamese director Ha Le Diem, 32, and her film Những Đứa Trẻ Trong Sương (Children of the Mist) won Best Asian Film at the first Da Nang Asian Film Festival.

Among the well-known faces were South Korean film actress, director and screenwriter Moon Sori, Vietnamese actress Như Quỳnh, Vietnamese director Phan Đăng Di, and Vice President Communications, Asia Pacific Motion Picture Association Stephen Jenner.
