Google stated that the Lock Screen widgets will enable the iPhones to have a lot of Google apps and users will be able to unlock the iPhone to access the other Google features. The iOS 16 Lock Screen will feature popular apps like Gmail and Google News but widgets for Search, Maps and Calendar.

Gmail app for iOS is getting a new widget. The new Gmail widget is said to show the last three emails in the Gmail inbox along with a Gmail compose button. Google started adding widgets to the Gmail app in iOS in November 2020.
