Mangaluru (Karnataka) [India], March 11 (ANI): The Customs seized over two kilograms of gold worth over Rs 1.10 crores from a passenger travelling from Dubai at Mangluru airport on Thursday.
A team led by Dr. Kapil Gade IRS Deputy Commissioner and other department officers intercepted a female passenger named Mohammed Ali Sameera from Kasaragod coming from Dubai by Air India flight.
She tried to smuggle gold by concealing in both her inner garments including Sanitary pads and also in socks, the Customs said.
Foreign-origin cigarettes were also seized from her possession. (ANI)

The woman was intercepted after arriving from Dubai in an Air India flight. In one of the biggest seizures of smuggled gold in Mangaluru in the recent past, customs officials seized 2.41kg of gold, valued at ₹1.10 crore, from a woman passenger at Mangaluru International Airport on Thursday.
A release from the customs mentioned the name of the accused as Mohammed Ali Sameera from Kasaragod in Kerala. She was intercepted after arriving from Dubai in an Air India flight.

Kozhikode (Kerala) [India], January 25 (ANI): The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) has seized one kilogram of 24-carat gold worth Rs 50.96 lakhs from a passenger at Kerala s Calicut Airport, said the Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive), Kochi on Monday.
According to the Customs, the gold was perfectly concealed inside the rotor of a mixer grinder. Calicut AIU Batch A has Seized 1 Kg of 24K gold worth Rs 50.96 lakh from a passenger who arrived from Jeddah in Spicejet flight SG 9711. Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], January 15 (ANI): Chennai Air Customs department on Friday seized 722 grams of gold worth Rs 36.52 lakhs and arrested one passenger.
The department arrested a 21 years old passenger, Manikandan Shankar, who arrived from Dubai by flight 6E66 at Chennai Airport. Three bundles of gold paste weighing 836 grams were recovered from the rectum of the passenger, according to a press statement from the Commissioner of Customs, Chennai International Airport.
As per the statement, on extraction 722 grams of gold worth Rs 36.52 lakhs were recovered and seized under the Customs Act.
