A team led by Dr. Kapil Gade IRS Deputy Commissioner and other department officers intercepted a female passenger named Mohammed Ali Sameera from Kasaragod coming from Dubai by Air India flight. She tried to smuggle gold by concealing in both her inner garments including Sanitary pads and also in socks, the Customs said. Foreign-origin cigarettes were also seized from her possession. (ANI)

Mangaluru: Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 30 lac from Dubai returnee   Sat, Jan 30 2021 10:26:22 PM Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru Mangaluru, Jan 30: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Saturday January 30 arrested one passenger who had arrived from Dubai to MIA on Air India flight IX 1814. The arrested is identified as Mashkoor Kallar hailing from Kasargod, Kerala. On profiling and personal search, the passenger was found to have concealed gold in paste form in his rectum. Gold weighing 0.587 KG of 24k purity valued at Rs 30 lac (approx) was recovered and seized. Commissioner of Customs Imamuddin Ahmed, IRS has commended the persistent vigil maintained by the Mangalore Air Customs team lead by Dr Kapil Gade IRS, deputy commissioner and officers Preeti Suma, superintendent, Satish Kumar, superintendent and Kashiti Nayak, superintendent, for their consistent anti-smuggling efforts.
