Mangaluru: Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 30 lac from Dubai returnee   Sat, Jan 30 2021 10:26:22 PM Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru Mangaluru, Jan 30: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Saturday January 30 arrested one passenger who had arrived from Dubai to MIA on Air India flight IX 1814. The arrested is identified as Mashkoor Kallar hailing from Kasargod, Kerala. On profiling and personal search, the passenger was found to have concealed gold in paste form in his rectum. Gold weighing 0.587 KG of 24k purity valued at Rs 30 lac (approx) was recovered and seized. Commissioner of Customs Imamuddin Ahmed, IRS has commended the persistent vigil maintained by the Mangalore Air Customs team lead by Dr Kapil Gade IRS, deputy commissioner and officers Preeti Suma, superintendent, Satish Kumar, superintendent and Kashiti Nayak, superintendent, for their consistent anti-smuggling efforts.

Gold worth Rs 64 13 lakh seized at Mangaluru aiport

updated: Jan 01 2021, 09:15 ist Mangalore Air Customs arrested two passengers traveling from Dubai and seized 1.26 kg of smuggled gold worth Rs 64,13,400 at Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday. The passengers had arrived in Mangaluru via flight IX 1814 and have been identified by the officials as Muhammed Zahir Aneez and Wasim Marzan. The duo had smuggled the gold by concealing it in the rectum, they said. Commissioner of Customs Imamuddin Ahmed and Joint Commissioner Joannes George congratulated the officers of Mangalore Air Customs team, led by Dr Kapil Gade, deputy commissioner for their vigilant action in preventing the smuggling activities.
