BleepingComputer reports that Chinese state-sponsored threat operation APT41, also known as HOODOO, Winnti, and Barium, has targeted an Italian job search website and a Taiwanese media firm in data exfiltration attacks involving the exploitation of the Google Command and Control red teaming program.

Google patched its second zero-day in its popular web browser in less than a week, as reports that its GC2 red-teaming tool was used in malware attacks.

APT 41 tried to use the tool to deploy additional malware to target endpoints.

China-linked APT41 group targeted a Taiwanese media organization and an Italian job agency with standard, open source penetration test tools, in a change in strategy.
