Just months after layoffs, major tech companies including Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Meta are hiring low-paid foreign workers for highly specialized technical roles.

"Quiet hiring" has gained prominence amid mass lay-offs as it refers to a method of finding new talent without hiring new full-time employees.

Google Parent Alphabet records slowest revenue growth in recent times due to ongoing economic slowdown and reduction in advertisement spending. Google CEO Sundar Pichai says his company is still recruiting but only for top engineering work and at a reduced pace.  

Amazon's biggest revenue generator, AWS (Amazon Web Service), won't be affected, and hirings across sections will reportedly continue.

Google previously said it will slow down hiring for the remaining months of the year.

Sundar Pichai earlier warned Google employees to work efficiently and focus more on how to better improve their products and help customers. Now, as per a new report, Google warns employees of layoffs.

In a company message viewed by Insider, Google Cloud sales leadership has threatened employees with an "overall examination of sales productivity and productivity in general" and that if next quarter results "dont look up, there will be blood on the streets."
