The Twin Cedars Girls Track and Field Squad finished 8th at the class 1A State Qualifying Meet on Thursday. While the Sabers did not get any automatic qualifiers to state, Coach Cam Parker told KNIA/KRLS Sports that Rylee Dunkin could be at large in three events. Melcher-Dallas’ track squads will begin district playoff action today as they take a trip northwest to Madrid for their state-qualifying meet. The Saints are coming off competing in the last regular-season meet at conference foe Lamoni Monday. Melcher-Dallas’ girls finished fourth in the meet, and were led by another school record-breaking performance from Grace Overgaard in the Shot put. Melcher-Dallas’ track squads will be back in action for their next meet as they travel to Newton with fellow Marion County foe Pleasantville. Both Saints’ squads came off competing in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament at Lamoni Tuesday. The boys finished with a total of 42 points, placing seventh. Melcher-Dallas competed in their first coed track meet of 2021 at Meskwaki Settlement High School, as they finished second behind just HLV to start the season. The Saints’ girls got first place finishes in the 1500 and 3200 meter run from J’Lyn Knutson.
