An elementary school in Tampa got a bright new crosswalk to help get students safely to and from school.

Wednesday afternoon, the bright 10-year-old flipped through a bright red folder filled with page after page of bar graphs and charts as she worked on a school science project.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor announced plans to paint a mural in a crosswalk near Grady Elementary School in South Tampa to promote an active lifestyle and alert drivers to kids walking.

Former presidents, well-known community figures and Comal Independent School District alumni make up the list of potential names for the district’s three new schools.

Close to 1,000 cases were reported in the first week of classes and thousands are already quarantined.
