Hundreds of Speldour in the Grass festivalgoers have become trapped on the campgrounds at North Byron Parklands, in northern NSW, on Friday.

The first day of Splendour in the Grass was cancelled due to extreme weather hitting Byron Bay, with punters left trawling through thigh-deep mud.

NSW Police enforce new rules for under 18 patrons to be accompanied by an adult at Splendour in the Grass music festival at Byron Bay later in July.
