The Weld County Coroner has identified the man who died in a motorcycle crash on 16th Street near Greeley Central earlier this month as 38-year-old Jacob Duis.

Top seed Nick Lee defeated Andrew Alirez of Greeley 11-9 Friday evening in a 65-kilogram semifinal match at the U.S. Olympic wrestling team trials at Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania.

On Tuesday, Luluya Tekle received the 2024 National Youth Service Day Award, presented by Mayor John Gates, at the Greeley City Council meeting.

The Weld Community Foundation awarded the Wilbert Wiedeman Scholarship to Adriana Parra Herrera, a Greeley Central High School senior. 

“It felt as though all of the hard work that I put into high school and all of the support that came with my journey had all come to this moment,” Datteri said.

Four former University of Northern Colorado athletes, including Greeley native and former Major League Baseball player and manager Tom Runnells, have been elected to the athletics hall of fame for its 30th anniversary, the athletic department announced Tuesday.
