Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen is visiting India at the invitation of his Indian counterpart, Dr S Jaishankar. He will attend the G20 Development Ministers' Meeting under the G20 Indian Presidency which will end on June 13 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Dr Momen is expected to make interventions

The G20 development ministerial meeting aims to collectively agree on actions to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and promote synergies between the development, environment, and climate agendas, while avoiding trade-offs that hinder progress for developing countries.

The meeting takes place amidst various developmental challenges, including economic slowdown, debt distress, climate change impacts, poverty and inequality, food and energy insecurity, global supply-chain disruptions, and geopolitical conflicts.

India is hosting the meeting in its capacity as the current chair of G20. Around 200 delegates are expected to visit Varanasi for the three-day meeting of development ministers of the G20 member nations, beginning Sunday.
