have even happen. as glen and others have been saying, this is a crack in that stone wall, and they re probably hoping to build on it. at the very least, we have this spectacle of her walking in the room, and we ll have the transcript later on to see what she said. something is better than nothing. i guess that s what you re saying. glen kirschner, charlie savage, greg brower. i know you ll be focused on her testimony. coming up, president trump may get what he wants for the federal reserve. but some serious concerns for the trump economy. last night trump broke out his greatest hits or put them on replay, painting a frightening picture of the future of our nation if he does not win reelection. what he said, and why it may or may not work this time. this tie well, the squirrels followed me all the way out to california! and there s a very strange badger staring at me.
greg, what s your take? yesterday morning you may recall i referenced the tone at the top being flawed, if you will, with respect to the russian threat and threat by other adversaries to interfere with our elections. little did we know after that comment i made to you yesterday morning that the president would say what he did, but let s look at the national security implication of this comment, in this pattern of conduct. this really presents by no less than the commander of chief in the use a flashing green light to our adversaries who are interested in interfering with our democracy. why wouldn t they try to do everything they can with the backdrop of comments like that? and so, again, i would echo what others have said. the comments were not all of that surprising because there s been a pattern now going back a couple of years. but what is surprising to me is the silence from the republican side on capitol hill.
foreign leaders. we know that s not a good point. what is a good point is most stunning with the latest comments is it should now be abundantly clear donald trump, sitting president of the united states, cannot ensure a fair election in 2020. it s quite amazing, the president again basically saying no biggie. it s not surprise many parts of the media are outraged. they re shocked. i want to point out laura ingraham of fox news, whose podcast is sponsored by president trump s 2020 committee, said she s baffled by the president s comments. laura ingraham and plenty of other people as well. thank you so much. we have assembled a terrific group to figure what it s about. white house report for blx news, cynthia oxley who worked in the criminal justice civil rights division, greg brower, former u.s. attorney and director for
i think that is in part their m.o. greg, i have to ask you, donald trump jr. is going to be speaking behind closed doors. how serious do you think sit is? it could be very serious. it s hard to know why the committee in a bipartisan way feels so strongly about bringing him back. it could be to tie up loose ends, fill in some gaps in his previous testimony. it could also be other witnesses have contradicted his prior testimony and that could present some potential problems, including legal problems for him. and so this has been a bipartisan, very thursdorough, professional investigation by the intelligence committee and i think this is an indication how thorough chairman bur wants to be. we won t know for a little while what exactly the import of this new testimony is. greg, michael, thank you both so much. let s dig even deeper on this. i m thrilled to bring in a woman who knows these issues like very
global strategies. and greg brower, commissioner of the fbi office of affairs under jim comey. michael, maybe it s a pipe dream. is it possible to get congress focused on the russia threat when its entire report gets painted through a political lens? i m really worried about that. these intelligence committees were meant to be an oasis of bipartisan. a great outcome of today s hearing would be if these former fbi agents could outline and underscore for the country the lengths the russians will go to disrupt our political process but i am almost 100% certain this is going to break down into a partisan wrestling match and that s unfortunate because the russians are coming for us again and we need to be ready and we need to deter them for what they re going to do in future elections. it s tough to find an oasis in a swamp. to that point we have an
