More candidates have filed for public offices in Pittsburg County, with several races shaping up among candidates.

More candidates have filed for school board seats in Pittsburg County, along with the first McAlester city council candidates to file for office.

Candidate filings were relatively slow on the opening day of a three-day filing period at the Pittsburg County Election Board’s temporary offices at the Southeast Expo Center.

Candidate filings begin Monday, Dec. 4, for three McAlester City Council seats and for school board offices in all 14 public school districts in Pittsburg County.
