Growing With Tom News Today

9 & 10 News June 29, 2021 Last week’s early cold spell gave the lawn a break to recover from all the heat and dry skies, and the recent rains are really helping out. Morgan Composting’s Connor Witbeck knows his grass and we have an issue with a brown spot among all our green. He thinks the problem is due to a sprinkler head not high enough, so it’s not watering the entire area. “So a lot of times the larger droplets will go away out instead of coming here close by. 9 & 10 News May 25, 2021 With all the recent warmth and humidity, I felt it was time to start planting the raised beds. Even with the chance of frost still in the picture, I decided to roll the dice and get things in the ground. That’s what we are talking about today. Justin says they get the question a lot. He says since you took out the plants last year, you need to replenish the minerals and nutrients used. In this bed we planted flowers, so we are using Flower Doo 201. Justin says it has an extra kick of phosphorus and the m...

For those of you making new raised garden beds this is your episode. We made our beds a few years ago. They were built a few foot off the ground to keep the back from hurting when harvesting. You can find a wide selection by doing a google search: Raised Garden Bed Plans Choose your plan and build it but don’t recommend using pressure-treated woo...
