Today is Presidents Day. I noted in checking through my past posts that my assigned date last year fell also on Presidents Day. In 2020, I wrote about presidential trivia. So rather than repeat, I’ll mention it briefly and move on. The federal holiday began as a commemoration of George Washington’s birthday, February 22, but now we celebrate on the third Monday in the month. The holiday takes place during the birth month of the country’s two most prominent presidents, George Washington an...

FROM Colfox School to the African Savanna - a woman who grew up in Bridport has spent eight months in Kenyan to film a Channel 4 wildlife documentary. Channel 4s Secret Safari: Into the Wild gives its audience a look into the lives of the wild animals of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya – and it is produced by Bridports own Pip Banyard. True friendship     Earlier this year I did a very post-COVIDY thing; I caught up with some old mates to have a drink and a bite and shoot some pool. Even more absurd was that the piece of wisdom passed off as “grumpy wit” was attributed to the management guru Tom Peters. “Create,” goes the quote, “a ‘...
