Russ Constantino loved his job with the Gurnee Fire Department. He was the departments Quartermaster, responsible for the distribution and inventory of all the supplies, materials, and equipment. It came as a shock to Russ family that his handling of that gear contributed to the cancer that eventually took his life.

Six teenagers have been released without charges after they were arrested for fighting patrons and police at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, resulting in four officers being injured.

The two residents inside were able to exit the burning house without injury, but two of the family’s cats were killed and a dog was missing, Battalion Chief James Pellitteri said. Firefighters were able to save one of the family’s dogs, he said.
