Chelsea Bayko will be principal at Rocky Ridge Elementary, and Carl Berryhill will be principal at Trace Crossings Elementary.

Allison Dolan is a librarian at Bluff Park Elementary, and Gerri Kimble is a business and marketing teacher at Hoover High.

As the summer break comes to a close and students head back to Hoover public schools on Aug. 10, they’ll see some new faces in leadership positions and find some changes to their physical surroundings.

The five-year plan includes $25.1 million for a new elementary school, $4.5 million for an addition at Bluff Park Elementary and $14.3 million in previously unidentified projects.

The Hoover school board and city of Hoover in 2023 plan to embark on at least $40 million worth of capital projects, officials said.

The school board also voted to ask the federal court to approve a future division of the school zone for South Shades Crest Elementary and Brocks Gap Intermediate into two separate K-5 school zones.

Driver, an attorney who lives in the Preserve, will be the first woman on the Hoover City Council since 2012.

Gwin Elementary counselor Wendy Sizemore in the previous school year identified needs of 513 students that Neighborhood Bridges was able to help with donations valued at $2,670.

Volunteers performed a variety of cleanup tasks, including spreading pine straw, pressure washing, trimming hedges and trees, putting out grass seed and picking up trash.

The event was held under the pavilion at Aldridge Gardens on Friday, April 29.
