The Army's training hub in Georgia is now officially called Fort Moore. The Army completed a name change Thursday that's been a year in the making at the base known previously as Fort Benning.

On Thursday, Fort Benning will be renamed in honor of Lt. Gen. Hal Moore and his wife, Julia. There will be a lot written and said about the Moores at this historic moment. The battlefield exploits of Moore and his men in 1965 were well documented by famed war correspondent and journalist Joe Galloway and in the 2002 Hollywood movie "We Were Soldiers." Hal Moore was a soldier’s soldier. Julia Moore was the bedrock back home during Vietnam. And Joe Galloway was a reporter’s reporter...

Fort Hood, initially named for a member of the Confederate army, was officially renamed Fort Cavazos on Tuesday.

To celebrate the renaming of Fort Benning to Fort Moore, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and Lucas Cinema are offering free screenings of “We Were Soldiers” from May 11 through May 14.
