Hal Plummer, superintendent of Catholic schools, announced his decision to retire from service to the Archdiocese of Atlanta on Oct. 14. His resignation will be effective Friday, Oct. 21.

After more than a year of preparations, the first archdiocesan pre-K-12 school, St. Mary’s Academy, opened in August.

Due to a priest shortage, Catholic high schools will begin the year with campus ministry to support the spiritual life of their communities.

School leaders and educators will find additional support from Tonya Shoemaker, the new coordinator of faith formation for the Office of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

Just over a year ago, Boone County joined an upward mobility cohort through the Urban Institute. Leaders are now ready to implement the action plan.
