The Virginia Department of Transportations (VDOT) says that some I-64 ramps in Hampton are scheduled to close overnight from Dec. 4-7 as part of construction for the Hampton Roads Express Lanes (HREL) Hampton Segment.

Drivers on Interstate 64 on the Peninsula should expect a major shift in traffic flow across the Hampton River as early as this weekend. According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, traffic on I-64 West will be shifted onto the eastbound Hampton River bridge to allow for construction of the westbound bridge between Settlers Landing Road and LaSalle Avenue.

Westbound lane closures began Sunday night, and Eastbound lanes are going to be impacted as early as July 16. The latest rounds of closures and shifts is expected to begin around 9 p.m..

Both directions of the segment of I-64 crossing the Hampton River will have reduced lanes and additional traffic disruptions until 2026.
