Hans Penner News Today

On April 25, Elphinstone Logging Focus ended an over three week protest presence in opposition to logging the site at road access to the cutblock, just off the B and K logging road in the Roberts Creek area.

ELF spokesperson Hans Penner, told Coast Reporter that while the protestors are not on site full-time, a daily presence is planned. He said ELF’s action is to demonstrate support for what it has heard from the community: the view that 'this block is not for sale.'

Protesters organized by ELphinstone Logging Focus block road access to BC Timber Sales Joe Smith Creek cutblock on BC's Sunshine Coast.

'While the SCRD may consider this logging to be low impact on SCRD services, the residents who receive regional district water would be highly impacted if the waterline, road, hydro, telephone and gas-line were destroyed by a flood or debris flow.'
