Sturgis Public Schools Board of Education on Monday welcomed newly hired staff members to the district. Andrea Barry, seventh-grade science, Sturgis Middle School. Barry has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Michigan State University with minors in psychology and sociology. She completed her teacher certification program from Eastern Michigan University with a major in elementary provisional, K-8, and minors in language arts and science. Teacher Appreciation week was May 3-7 and Sturgis teachers were honored in various ways.  At Wall Elementary School, the parent association gave a token of appreciation for teachers each day, said principal Harmonee McCrea. That included a snow cone vendor, coffee and doughnuts, massages, bingo with prizes and yard signs for the teachers and staff.
