A £900,000 project to upgrade a Speyside nursery and bring facilities up to a national standard is due to get underway.

Bought at a cost of £260,000, the units were to be used so pre-school children from Aberlour Primary could move out to allow refurbishment work.

One councillor on the education, children's and leisure services committee claimed they were "having the wool pulled over [their] eyes".

Parents could soon have the option of topping up childcare hours at some Moray Council nurseries. The move is expected to generate tens of thousands of pounds for the local authority.
