bret. the way he looks at it when you look at the warsaw pack, which totally evaporated his last resort of having some type of buffer happens to be ukraine. he looks at it that way. unfortunately we are looking at it differently. we are actually talking past each other. we are looking at potentially ukraine being part of nato. and he has said repeatedly that s a red line that he does not want them to cross. and the longer we keep talking about ukraine being part of nato, it s actually a burr under a saddle. and we have made it a nato issue. it s not a nato issue today because ukraine is not part of nato so it doesn t fall under article 5 attack on attack on all. he looks at this. he doesn t have buffer. he believes it s similar if aanalogous to having cuba with their missiles
