The Manipur health minister pointed out that the cases of Glaucoma in the state have been steadily rising, becoming one of the major causes for blindness.
Addressing a breast cancer awareness and workshop held under the theme Together We Rise’ on Tuesday in Imphal, the health minister said that breast cancer is a burning issue globally as well as in Manipur. However, due to lack of awareness, many come for treatment only at the last stage.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said the state is mulling over increasing the pension amount under Manipur Old Age Pension Scheme (MOAPS) and Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension (IGNOAP) from Rs 200 per month to Rs 1000 per month for beneficiaries of 80 and above years of age.
