Isolated pockets of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Vidarbha are already experiencing a heatwave. Parts of Delhi, Haryana, and Southwest Uttar Pradesh will also witness a steep rise in temperature leading to a heatwave by May 10th.
Heat wave conditions are likely between 26th and 28thMarch. Prominent places like Basankantha, Sabarkantha, Deesa, Mehsana, Palanpur, Patan,Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot , Amreli, Junagarh, Veraval and Bhuj are expected to swelter with heat and scorch during this period.
Next round of heat is just around the corner. Anticyclone over Rajasthan fanning northeasterly winds over most parts is expected to drift eastward. Absence of any active western disturbance across northern plains has spelled long dry spell. Accumulated heat is going to raise the mercury, possibly once again amounting to heat wave conditions.
Temperatures are above normal by 7 to 8 degree over parts of Rajasthan, 3 to 5 degrees above normal over Delhi, Haryana and Punjab, 7 to 6 degrees above normal over parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and 8 to 10 degrees above normal over Jammu division.
