Based in Marshall, the local AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program seeks volunteers to work with special needs students in Sedalia.

In November, the Sedalia Police Department launched this year’s Sedalia elementary school coloring contest. All elementary-grade students in Heber Hunt, Horace Mann, Parkview, Skyline, Sacred Heart, Washington, and St. Paul’s schools were given the opportunity to color a drone picture to enter the contest.

“It’s been a lot more work, but it's worth seeing the children enjoy the food,” Chappell said. “The menu has been amazing and the food has been outstanding.”

Two Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri Club Sites had the honor of being named Distinguished Club Gold Award winners.

Kayla Sanchez said she sent out an “all-call” to church members, requesting anyone with artistic talent to volunteer their time & talents to the project.

The first week of kindergarten will look different this year in Sedalia School District 200, all in the name of getting every student on the right educational path.

Heber Hunt Elementary students spent Thursday serving others within their community and their school.
