Sandra Yerger, Mark Inglis and Susan Blair were leading Kathy Pichel-McGovern in the Republican primary for three Lower Saucon Township Council seats.

Ten candidates in all are running in the May 16 primary for nominations for five seats on the nine-member board.

Hellertown, Lower Saucon Township continue to wage legal battles, with the latest over a once-shared compost center.

The drama continued over whether Lower Saucon Township should continue to fund the Hellertown Area Library.

Lower Saucon Township will not have to check out of services at Hellertown Area Library on Feb. 28.

Lower Saucon Township representatives have been removed from the Hellertown Area Library board, the township council liaison says, in the latest chapter of a saga about what will happen to the small, community facility.

The state has 29 districts, including three that cover the 15 libraries in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Lower Saucon would be switching from the Bethlehem District to the Allentown District.

The Hellertown Area Library board voted to reject Lower Saucon Township’s $50,000 donation to help fund the borough-based library amid an ongoing dispute.
