Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development are encouraging people who have eastern hemlock trees on their property to search for signs of the hemlock woolly adelgid.

Planning on taking a hike this winter? The state has a request for those with vigilant eyes.

The Hemlock woolly adelgid was first discovered in the province in 2017, causing concern immediately because of the importance of Hemlock trees. 

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has detected an invasive insect, Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, in the Halifax area for the first time -- which is deadly to hemlock trees.
