what my wind are doing. whipping up from north to south. so i m just passing 50th now. i m sure highway 9 is jammed up with traffic. on alameda heading after the and staying up with a circulation center there, cutting across norman, causing power flashes and likely some damage down in the norman area. so mike, i m going to continue to track this over to shawnee, dale and back to you. okay, appreciate that. so this circulation on the east side of norman, let s go to the storm tracker. you see a hook here and still a hook here. there is norman. here is noble. still a hook. traveling over here toward highway 9 here. there is the casino there. thunder bird casino. it is in that exact area right now traveling to the southeast.
so far, no tornado has been spotted, but i can tell you as we ve been talking to our own meteorologists that this tornado warning, this could be encroa encroaching upon moore, oklahoma. you know the story in moore, the ef-5 tornado that leveled much of moore just last week. and also heading toward oklahoma city. we have samantha mohr in the cnn severe weather center and chad myers on the phone watching all of this from oklahoma. chad, let me begin with you. tell me exactly what you know. we are now traveling on i-35 south. now we re on highway 9 moving to the west towards chickashae, oklahoma. as the storm moves off towards the north and northeast, that is right in line, at least at this point, it is right in line with an impact of the oklahoma city metro area. now we can t tell you whether
cold front. it will push ahead. and then the storms will be another 150 to 250 miles farther to the east. well, if nick goes out there like he is all day, he can feel the humidity. it s back. the cold front never moved through shawnee or oklahoma city or tulsa. so the potential is back again to the same place we had tornadoes yesterday. probably only ten tornadoes on the ground total. but we talked about 28 reports of damage. that s different damage reported from different angles by different reporters, different storm spotters. the big tornado now ef-4 was the shawnee tornado. it started just to the east of norman and moved right across called highway 9 and right into the shawnee area. a very large single cell thing. it s called a supercell tornado when they re out there all by themselves like that. that s when they rotate. and this thing was probably in the neighborhood of probably 200 miles per hour. today, we re seeing sunshine. and you would think to yourself,
let s look at the pictures. yeah, let s go back to the video. thank you. there we go. there s the video. again, that s giant. as we talk to our meteorologists here, jennifer delgato and chad myers, we have chad on the phone as well. chad, are you there? yes, i am, don, i m here. what are we seeing here. watching it live. this is the storm that came across norman. didn t really put anything down there. there was a wall cloud. significant wall cloud. norman was the populated area we were so concerned about. over lake stanley draper, lake thunderbird area, now across pink. this is highway 9. it s moving just to the north of due east. that will take it into bethel acres in just a few minutes and farther to the east, i m mainly concerned, fire lake golf course area, shawnee, this is the area you see the big word, shawnee. finally off to the east. these storms have been tracking slightly north of due east. that would put it right over two very large towns. not cities proper, but
let s go to the tracker. you re under a tornado warning in cleveland and maclaine county. here s new castle. there s gullsby, the ou campus, downtown norman. this is ping-pong-ball-sized hail and larger. the hook is coming around here. it appears to be on the northern side of highway 9. if it continues its motion, it will come directly into norman. the circulation could even go as far north as the southern half of moore. the southern half of moore. and keep in mind, the big hail is on the southern side of that mesocyclone track for the most part. obviously and definitely still a very developing situation down south. i would have one door on your safe spot, both in all of south moore and all of norman. you know, visibility hopefully will stay good so we ll be able to see it, looking at emily s live stream, but have one hand
