Highways Assets head said: "We are spending more than I've ever seen us spend"

Residents of Pilsley say that Station Road has been plagued by issues for decades and that the crumbling state of the asphalt means some drivers are forced to avoid it altogether.

A major countywide £1million repair programme targeting 124 residential roads is set to get underway on Wednesday 6th September.

Volunteers throughout the county are being called on to help clear snow and ice from Derbyshire’s roads and pavements this winter.

Local residents are being encouraged to come along to an information session about plans to put a 20mph limit in Long Eaton town centre.

More than 42,000 potholes have been fixed by Derbyshire County Council this year alone, as the council continues to put extra resources into highways maintenance.
