Firefighters have partially contained a wildland fire, called the Bear Fire, about three miles northwest of Golden. All evacuation and pre-evacuation orders have been lifted, and Golden Gate Canyon Road has reopened, as of 8:50 p.m. April 1.

Scars of Jefferson County’s latest fire, the Hogback Fire, served as a glaring reminder that wildfires are a very real threat in Colorado.

A red flag warning is in effect for most of the Front Range, including the Denver area, as crews work to contain several fires that broke out over the past few days.

Fire crews are still working to extinguish the Hogback Fire between C-470 and Highway 93, which has burned at least 10 acres. Smoke remains visible in the area into the evening hours March 31.

A pre-evacuation notice was issued for the entire town of Morrison, the Solterra subdivision of Lakewood and the Red Rock Ranch neighborhood at C-470 due to a wildfire.
