U S Marshals arrest Austin man accused of Oertli Lane killing

Federal authorities arrested a 22-year-old man on Wednesday and are accusing him of fatally shooting a man earlier this month, according to the U.S. Marshals. Authorities said they believe Manuel Vilchis killed another man during the early hours of March 18, following a verbal altercation at a residence near the intersection of Georgian Drive and Oertli Lane in North Austin. Following a police investigation, Vilchis was arrested Wednesday afternoon without incident in East Austin, authorities said. Vilchis was taken to the Austin Police Department, and he is facing a first degree murder charge in connection to the March 18 shooting, and his bail is set at $500,000, according to authorities.

Austin police: Man robbed gas station on Cameron Road, Rundberg Lane

Austin police are looking for a man who authorities say held up and robbed a Northeast Austin gas station last week. On March 25, a man who was wearing a gray back pack walked into a gas station located just south of the intersection of Cameron Road and Rundberg Lane, where he showed a silver gun to an employee of the business and demanded money, police said. Police were notified of the robbery around 4:10 a.m. the same day, according to authorities. Austin police said the man was wearing khaki pants and brown boots during the incident. Authorities did not say whether any employees of the store were injured during the robbery.
