Grower partners with ag tech firm for fresher, greener cucumbers

After conducting trials to support commercialization, Verdant Technologies is now partnering with SunFed to use Verdant’s HarvestHold Fresh technology to deliver fresh and greener cucumbers.

Titan Farms has a new partnership with Verdant Technologies to bring the HarvestHold Fresh post-harvest solution to the peach industry. With more than 6,000 acres, Titan Farms is the country's second-largest vertically integrated peach operation. Through rigorous testing, the company plans to utilize HarvestHold Fresh to extend the quality, freshness and flavor of its peaches from harvest to consumption.

Windset Farms and Verdant Technologies will partner on a retail pilot for tomatoes-on-the-vine supplied from Mexico into select retailers in the U.S., with the intent to expand into additional locations. Windset will use Verdant’s HarvestHold Fresh, a postharvest shelf-life extension solution. The retail pilot is expected to launch this month.

A recent study by the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Science (UF-IFAS) found the shelf-life of grape tomatoes can be dramatically improved using an innovative postharvest solution by Verdant™ Technologies. The research team, led by Dr. Steven A. Sargent, conducted a variety of tests on grape tomatoes, examining the firmness, color, weight retention and decay of tomatoes treated with Verdant’s HarvestHold Fresh®.

Post-harvest solution receives EPA label expansion

Verdant Technologies announced approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency of an expanded label of HarvestHold Fresh, including the addition of 18 crops. The latest addition of crops for use with HarvestHold Fresh includes asparagus, avocado, banana, bell pepper, blueberry, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cucumber, kiwi, lime, mango, mushrooms, okra, papaya, pineapple, spinach, strawberry and sweet corn.
