In 2016, Bharti Airtel ruled the telecom market. After the launch of Reliance Jio, in December 2022, Bharti Airtels market share dipped to 23.58 per cent from 24.07 per cent a year ago. Vodafones market share slipped from 19.15 per cent in 2015 to 18.16 per cent in 2016; and Idea Cellulars market share contracted from 17.01 per cent to 16.9 per cent. The Future Retail counsel on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court that his client is broke and Amazon has driven the firm to its knees, after Amazon's counsel submitted that talks between the parties to settle legal disputes have failed and Reliance is taking over Future's shops.
