NASA has tasked Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace to back each other up as each develops new spacesuit designs for spacewalking and the lunar surface.

Los Angeles CA (SPX) Jul 12, 2023 - NASA has awarded Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace task orders under existing contracts to advance spacewalking capabilities in low Earth orbit, as well as moonwalking services for Artemis missions.

Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace will modify their spacesuits for new purposes.

NASA is expanding its options for spacewalking suits in low Earth orbit and moonwalking suits for Artemis missions with task orders from Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace.

The space agency awarded task orders to Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace to build on the existing designs of their in-development spacesuits.

NASA has asked two of its commercial partners to develop spacesuit designs for different tasks than the ones initially assigned to them, with the space agency looking to have backup options should any issues arise in the future.
