The Kansas men’s and women’s track and field teams compete in the Big 12 Outdoor Championship at R.V. Christian Track in Manhattan, Kansas this weekend as the Jayhawks compete amongst the best in the conference.
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas track & field teams host its first outdoor meet at Rock Chalk Park in nearly two years this weekend, when it hosts the Rock Chalk Classic April 30-May 1 in Lawrence, Kansas.
The Rock Chalk Classic begins at 1 p.m. CT on Friday with the start of the field events and continues into the afternoon with the track events beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday’s action begins at 11 a.m.
Admission to the meet is $10 for adults and $5 for children. All seating is general admission.
This weekend’s Rock Chalk Classic serves as Kansas’ Senior Day for 26 Kansas seniors who will be recognized in two separate ceremonies on Saturday. For a complete schedule, click here.
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas men’s and women’s track & field teams travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to compete in the John McDonnell Invitational April 24-25, competing amongst some of the top talent in the country.
The John McDonnell Invitational begins on Saturday, April 24 at 10:15 a.m. CT, with the start of field events, followed by track events beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday’s competition continues at 10 a.m.
The meet serves as the eighth of the outdoor season for the Jayhawks, before they return home to host the Rock Chalk Classic at Rock Chalk Park from April 30 – May 1. The Rock Chalk Classic will serve as Kansas’ sole home meet of the season as well as senior day.
LAWRENCE, Kan. – University of Kansas sophomore Zach Bradford was named the Big 12 track & field Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week, the conference announced on Wednesday, after winning the pole vault at the Michael Johnson Invitational with a clearance of 5.71m (18-8.75 ft.).
The Big 12 Athlete of the Week honor marks Bradford’s second of his career, including the second this season, after earning the honor on April 14 after vaulting the KU indoor school record.
Bradford opened his day at 5.51m (18-1 ft.), where he began with a clearance on his first attempt. Bradford would then miss on his first attempt at 5.61m (18-4.75 ft.), before clearing 5.71m (18-8.75) on his next attempt.
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete in a pair of meets this weekend as it is in action at the Sooner Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma and the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas April 16-17.
The Jayhawks will have several entries competing in the multis portion of the Sooner Invitational, which begins on Friday at 10:30 a.m. CT, before continuing on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
The Michael Johnson Invitational will begin on Friday at 12 p.m. CT, and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The pair of meets mark the sixth and seventh of the outdoor season for the Jayhawks, as they work towards the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Manhattan, Kansas on May 14-16. The Jayhawks will host their sole home meet of the season on May 30-April 1 when they host the Rock Chalk Classic at Rock Chalk Park.
